DOCUCOLOR 12 USER GUIDE 9–7 PAPER1934567Using transparenciesTransparencies can be run ONLY from Tray 5.Transparencies with removable lead edge paperstripes are recommended.KEY POINT: Use only the transparenciesrecommended in theRecommended Materials forthe DocuColor 12.Before you load transparencies, you mustdetermine which side has the white stripe. Use asoft lead pencil to make a small mark on the stripeon each side of the transparency. The side withthe darker mark is the stripe side.Load transparencies with the white stripe sidefacing down and as the leading edge, asillustrated in Figure 4. (The leading edge is theedge that feeds into the copier/printer first.)You can program the copier/printer to insert ablank separator between transparencies by usingthe Transparency Separator feature on the OutputFormats tab. Refer to the section “OutputFormats” for more information.KEY POINT: Follow these guidelines to preventstatic build up when using transparencies:• Place no more than twenty-five 8.5 x 11 inchor A4 transparencies in Paper Tray 5 at onetime.• Place only one 11 x 17 or A3 transparency inPaper Tray 5 at a time.• Remove the transparencies from the Outputor Offset Catch Tray before running additionalsets.NOTE: If the copier/printer has a Sorter/Mailbox,the transparency copies are delivered to theOffset Catch Tray.
