MAINTENANCE TASKS10-2 XEROX DOCUPRINT 96/DOCUPRINT 96MX LPS OPERATOR GUIDEMaintaining the printerWhen supplies for the LPS need to be replaced, for instance, whenthe dry ink supply is low, the following indications appear:• If enabled, the Attention light goes on.• A message and instructions appear on the printer controlconsole.• The Hint icon appears on the printer control console.Note: If the Attention light is turned off, the Hint icon does notappear.To ensure that the LPS runs efficiently, replace the appropriatesupplies as soon as possible after seeing the indications. If you donot do so, the printer eventually stops and does not continue until youreplace the supplies.Replacing the dry ink cartridgeNote: Make sure to use only MICR dry ink. The dry ink cartridge ofthe DocuPrint 96/DocuPrint 96MX system is red, and the dispenseris keyed to prevent the installation of the wrong type of dry ink.Follow this procedure to replace the dry ink cartridge:Step 1. Open the printer’s right and left doors and locate the dry ink area atthe left side of the printer (see figure 10-1).
