Be sure that the FM mode is being selected on theproper VFO; check the status of the A and Bswitches (# ) above the mode selection keysbefore making your mode selection. The LED (Red or Orange) corresponding to theVFO on which you selected FM (Main or Sub,respectively), will light up.2. Rotate the MAIN Tuning Dial knob (# ) (in thecase of Main (VFO-A) operation) to select the de-sired operating frequency. If using the optional MD-200A8X Desk Microphone, pressing the [UP] or[DOWN] button will cause frequency change in 5 kHzsteps.3. Press the microphone’s PTT switch (or press the frontpanel MOX switch (# )) to transmit. Speak intothe microphone in a normal voice level. Release thePTT or MOX switch to return to receive.4. Adjustment of the microphone gain may be accom-plished in two ways. At the factory, a default level hasbeen programmed that should be satisfactory for mostsituations. However, using Menu item [MODE-FM058 FM MIC GAIN], you may set a different fixedvalue, or choose the “MCVR” option, which then letsyou use the front panel MIC control (# ) to setthe microphone gain in the FM mode. The microphonegain should be set such that deflection of the ALCmeter goes all the way to the right side of the ALCmeter scale.Advice The FH-2 may be used, in the FM mode, for storageof voice memory messages. See page 94. FM is only used in the 28 MHz and 50 MHz Amateurbands covered in the FT DX 9000MP. Please do notuse FM on any other bands.
