Thecentral LDAP directory can be browsed or searched. Entries retrieved from the LDAPserver can be added to the local directory on the IP phone. Calls can be placed basedon the phone number contained in the LDAP entry. The LDAP directory interface shall beread only, so that editing or deleting the existing directory entries as well as addingnew directory entries on the IP phone shall not be possible. When LDAP is properlyconfigured, the IP phone can look up entries from the LDAP server in a wide variety ofways. The LDAP server indexes all the data in their entries, and "filters" may be used toselect just the contact or the group you want, and return just the information you want. When configuring the LDAP on the IP phone, the configuration limits the amount ofdisplayed entries when querying from the LDAP server, and decides how the attributesare displayed and sorted.NoteThere are two ways to perform a LDAP search on the IP phone: Simply start a search against LDAP by entering a number. All suitable entries willbe shown according to your query setup. Assign a DSS key to be LDAP key. You can enter the LDAP Search interface bypressing the LDAP key when the phone is idle.LDAP AttributesMost common attributes are used to configure the LDAP lookup in your phone with:Abbreviation Name Descriptiongn givenName First namecn commonNameLDAP attribute being made upfrom given name joined tosurname. The LDAP feature is not applicable to the SIP-T20P IP phone.
