Adding a 3Com Attendant Console 1137 For each telephone that you want to Auto Discover:a Remove the telephone from the packing box.b Connect power to the telephone as described on page 104 or on thepacking sheet that comes with the telephone.c Connect the telephone to the LAN on which the Call Processor residesas described on page 107 or on the packing sheet that comes withthe telephone.d Wait until the telephone display panel displays an extension number.e Record the extension number on the telephone’s shipping box.f Disconnect the telephone from the LAN.g Disconnect power from the telephone.Once you have discovered a telephone, it retains its settings. Thetelephone can now be placed in the appropriate location based on thetelephone extension assignments the customer has chosen.8 When you connect the telephone to the LAN and power, the extensionappears on the display panel.Adding a 3ComAttendant ConsoleThe 3Com Attendant Console provides extension button mappings anddisplays the current status of each mapped extension. A receptionisttypically uses the Attendant Console to connect incoming calls totelephone extensions.When you install a new NBX system, add all telephones before you AutoDiscover any Attendant Console. The Auto Discover process assigns theextension of each known telephone to a button on the AttendantConsole and associates the Attendant Console with an existing telephoneextension.Connecting Power to the Attendant ConsoleConnect the AC power converter provided with the Attendant Consoleto the power connection on the bottom of the Attendant Console andthen connect the other end of the power converter to an AC poweroutlet.
