120 CHAPTER 4: A NALOG LINE CARDSInserting anAnalog Line CardWhen you insert an Analog Line Card into the chassis, you may leave thesystem powered up. The Auto Discover process begins as soon as thesystem senses the new card.To insert the Analog Line Card:1 Find the MAC address of the card on the label on the card.2 Record the MAC address for the configuration process.3 Select a slot for the card in the chassis and use a Phillips screwdriver toremove the blank faceplate from the slot.You cannot put a card into the top slot of an NBX 100 chassis.4 Insert the analog line card into the slot.5 Slide the card into the chassis until you feel it touch the connectors.6 To seat the analog line card into the connectors, apply firm pressure toboth the left and right sides of the front of the card.CAUTION: If you cannot seat the card with light pressure, remove it andcheck for obstructions.7 Tighten the left and right screws on the front of the card to secure it tothe chassis.Wait two minutes (more on a SuperStack 3 NBX system that has manydevices) for the card to initialize and for the system to update itsdatabase.Verifying anAnalog Line CardAfter you have added an Analog Line Card, you can verify that the cardwas properly discovered and is ready for configuration by:■ Using the NBX NetSet Utility■ Using Status LightsUsing the NBX NetSetUtilityTo verify the status of an Analog Line Card using the NBX NetSet utility:1 In the NBX NetSet - Main Menu window click Device Configuration.2 In the Device Configuration dialog box, click the Line Card Ports tab.3 Compare the MAC addresses to the MAC address of the card that yourecorded before you inserted the card.
