148 CHAPTER 8: T1 DIGITAL LINE CARD3 Select a slot for the T1 card in the chassis and use a Phillips screwdriver toremove the blank faceplate from the slot.4 Insert the T1 card into the slot.5 Slide the T1 card into the chassis until you feel it touch the connectors.6 To seat the T1 card into the connectors, apply firm pressure to both theleft and right sides of the front of the card.CAUTION: If you cannot seat the card with light pressure, remove it andcheck for obstructions.7 Tighten the left and right screws on the front of the T1 card to secure itto the chassis.8 Wait 3 minutes (more on a SuperStack 3 NBX system with many devices).When you first insert the T1 card it must initialize and the NBX systemmust update its database. You must wait 3 minutes because the T1 cardreboots twice during the initialization process. On a SuperStack 3 NBXsystem with many devices, you may need to allow additional time. If youattach a console cable to the CONSOLE port on the T1 card and useHyperterminal software to view the text output from the card, you willsee status messages associated with the two reboot processes. See“Connecting a Computer to a Serial Port” in Chapter 10.Verifying the T1Digital Line CardAfter the Auto Discover process has completed, you can verify that the T1Digital Line Card has been properly discovered by using the NBX NetSetutility and by examining the T1 status lights.Using the NBX NetSetUtilityTo use the NBX NetSet utility to verify that the T1 Digital Line Card hasbeen properly discovered:1 In the NBX NetSet - Main Menu window, click Device Configuration.2 Click the Digital Line Cards tab.3 Verify that the T1 board appears in the T1/ISDN Board List. Use the MACaddresses of the channels to identify the ones associated with the T1Digital Line Card. The MAC addresses of the channels follow in sequentialorder from the MAC address of the T1 Digital Line Card.4 From the Select Device Type pull-down list, select T1 Channel List.5 Click Apply.
