Manage Data 87Migration Table 20 describes the supported migration paths to move your data fromone system platform to another.Data Migration Notes and PrerequisitesBefore you begin a data migration, make sure you understand theseimportant prerequisites:■ You cannot simply remove the disk drive from one type of systemplatform and install it into a different platform. If you attempt to doso, the system will not boot properly.■ Licenses are not part of a database migration. The licenses on your oldsystem will not work on the new system. Your new system comes withits own set of license keys that you must enter into the new systembefore you migrate your data.■ The target system must be licensed to support the capacities of thesource system. For example, you cannot move the data from a V5000system with 1000 devices successfully onto a V3000 system, unlessyou install the memory upgrade and a license to support at least 1000devices on the V3000 system.■ You can choose to include or exclude telephone users’ voice mailmessages when you perform the data migration.■ The system software version on the target system must be equal to orhigher than the software version on the source system. For example, you cannot move data from a release R5.0 system onto an releaseR4.3 system using the data migration feature. The target systemsoftware must be at release R5.0 or higher.Table 20 Data Migration Platforms and Software RevisionsSource Target ** Must be release R5.0 or higher.NotesNBX 100 V5000 The NBX 100 must be at releaseR4.2.X or higher.V3000V3000 V5000 The V3000 system must be atrelease R4.4.X or higher.NBX 100 Unsupported.V5000 V3000 The V5000 system must be atrelease R4.2.X or higher.NBX 100 Unsupported.
