Section 2 IED engineering processPCM600 is used for various tasks in the IED engineering process.• IED engineering management• Organizing the bay IEDs in the structure of the substation by definingvoltage levels and bays below the substation. PCM600 manages the project.• Configuring the IED functions (for example, protection and controlfunctions) by using the Application Configuration tool.• Configuring the parameters and setting values for the IED itself and for theprocess functions by using the Parameter Setting tool.• Drawing single-line diagrams and making links to dynamic process valuesby using the Graphical Display Editor. The single-line diagrams aredisplayed in LHMI on the bay IED.• Configuring connections between the application configuration functionblocks and physical hardware input and outputs by using the Signal Matrixtool.• Communication management• IEC61850 station communication engineering can be done with theIEC61850 Configuration tool within PCM600 for small to moderate stationlevel projects including only Relion products. A separate tool like IET600 isrequired for integration with non-Relion products as well as for largeprojects. PCM600 interacts with IET600 or any external tool by importingand exporting SCL files.• Configuring the GOOSE receive data connections to the IED's applicationconfiguration function blocks by using the Application Configuration tooland the Signal Matrix tool.• Configuring protocol data mapping for Modbus or DNP3 with theCommunication Management tool.• Disturbance record management1MRS240044-IB A Section 2IED engineering processREF615R 13Engineering Manual
