20 Signal Connections3.1 Pulse Output Signals OUT and DIRThere are 2 axis pulse output signals on the PCI-8102. For eachaxis, two pairs of OUT and DIR signals are used to transmit thepulse train and to indicate the direction. The OUT and DIR signalscan also be programmed as CW and CCW signal pairs. Refer tosection 4.1 for details of the logical characteristics of the OUT andDIR signals. In this section, the electrical characteristics of theOUT and DIR signals are detailed. Each signal consists of a pairof differential signals. For example, OUT0 consists of OUT0+ andOUT0- signals. The following table shows all pulse output signalson P1.The output of the OUT or DIR signals can be configured by jump-ers as either differential line drivers or open collector output. Userscan select the output mode either by closing breaks between 1and 2 or 2 and 3 of jumpers J8-J11 as follows:The default setting of OUT and DIR is set to differential line drivermode.P1 Pin No. Signal Name Description Axis #3 OUT0+ Pulse signals (+) 14 OUT0- Pulse signals (-) 15 DIR0+ Direction signal (+) 16 DIR0- Direction signal (-) 137 OUT1+ Pulse signals (+) 238 OUT1- Pulse signals (-) 239 DIR1+ Direction signal (+) 240 DIR1- Direction signal (-) 2Output SignalFor differential line driveroutput, close breaksbetween 1 and 2 of:For open collector out-put, close breaksbetween 2 and 3 of:OUT0- J8 J8DIR0- J9 J9OUT1- J10 J10DIR1- J11 J11
