The Section Terminating Equipmentgenerates AIS-L after detecting LOS or LOF.AIS-P (Path Alarm Indication Signal)The unit is receiving a path alarm indicationsignal. AIS-P is defined as all ones in bytes H1,H2, and H3 as well as all ones in the entire STSsynchronous payload envelope.RFI-L (Line Remote Failure Indication)The unit is receiving a line remote failureindication. RFI-L is declared when the incomingline remote defect indication (RDI-L, “110”pattern in bits 6, 7, and 8 of the K2 line overheadbyte) lasts for 2.5 +/- 0.5 seconds.RFI-P (Path Remote Failure Indication)The unit is receiving a path remote failureindication. RFI-P is declared when the incomingpath remote defect indication (RDI-P, “1” in bit 5of the G1 path overhead byte for contiguousframes) lasts for 2.5 +/- 0.5 seconds.
