When the system activates, a Stability System Engagedmessage will be displayed on the Driver InformationCenter. See DIC Warnings and Messages on page 3-61.You may also hear a noise or feel vibration in thebrake pedal. This is normal. Continue to steer thevehicle in the direction you want it to go.If there is a problem detected with StabiliTrak® , aService Stability System message will be displayedon the Driver Information Center. See DIC Warningsand Messages on page 3-61. When this messageis displayed, the system is not operational. Drivingshould be adjusted accordingly.StabiliTrak® comes on automatically whenever youstart your vehicle. To help assist you with directionalcontrol of the vehicle, you should always leave thesystem on. You can turn StabiliTrak® off if you everneed to through the TC (traction control) on/off button.See Traction Control System (TCS) (CTS) on page 4-9 orTraction Control System (TCS) (CTS-V) on page 4-10.If your vehicle is in cruise control when the StabiliTrak®activates, the cruise control will automaticallydisengage. When road conditions allow you to safelyuse it again, you may reengage the cruise control.See Cruise Control on page 3-13 for more information.Panic Brake AssistYour vehicle has a panic brake assist system thatmonitors the intention of the driver while braking. If thesystem senses that the driver has applied hard/fastpressure to the brake pedal, the system will generateadditional pressure, making it easier for the driverto maintain brake application. When this happens thebrake pedal will feel easier to push. Just hold the brakepedal down firmly and let the system work for you.You may feel the brakes vibrate, or you may noticesome noise but this is normal. The brakes will returnto normal operation after the brake pedal has beenreleased.SteeringPower SteeringIf you lose power steering assist because the enginestops or the system is not functioning, you can steerbut it will take much more effort.Speed Variable Assist SteeringIf your vehicle has this system, it varies the amount ofeffort required to steer the vehicle in relation to thespeed of the vehicle.4-13
