(h) Change automatic transmission fluid and filter if thevehicle is mainly driven under one or more of theseconditions:− In heavy city traffic where the outside temperatureregularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher.− In hilly or mountainous terrain.− When doing frequent trailer towing.− Uses such as high performance operation.If you do not use your vehicle under any of theseconditions, the fluid and filter do not require changing.(i) Drain, flush, and refill cooling system. This servicecan be complex; you should have your dealer performthis service. See Engine Coolant on page 5-26 forwhat to use. Inspect hoses. Clean radiator, condenser,pressure cap, and filler neck. Pressure test thecooling system and pressure cap.(k) A fluid loss in any vehicle system could indicatea problem. Have the system inspected and repaired andthe fluid level checked. Add fluid if needed.(l) Change fluid if the vehicle is used for highperformance operation.(m) Change fluid whenever the vehicle has beendriven for 3,000 miles (5 000 km) with the transmissiontemperature at 290°F (143°C) or higher without usingan auxiliary fluid cooler. See Message Center (CTS-V)on page 3-47 and Transmission Fluid Hot Messageon page 3-50.(n) If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, inspectthe filter at each engine oil change.(p) Visually inspect belt for fraying, excessive cracks,or obvious damage.
