When on,the compass automatically calibrates as the vehicleis driven.Automatic DimmingYour vehicle is equipped with an automatic dimmingrearview mirror. The automatic dimming feature isactivated whenever the vehicle is turned on and dimsonly during nighttime driving.Compass OperationAUTO 3: Press and hold the “auto highbeam” buttonfor approximately three seconds to turn the compasson or off.When the ignition and the compass feature are on, thecompass will show two character boxes for abouttwo seconds. After two seconds, the mirror will displaythe compass heading.Compass CalibrationIf after two seconds the display does not show thecorrect direction, (N for North for example), there maybe a strong magnetic field interfering with the compass.Such interference may be caused by a magneticantenna mount, magnetic note pad holder, or a similarmagnetic item.The compass can be placed in calibration modemanually by pressing and holding the “auto highbeam”button for approximately nine seconds until a C isshown in the compass display.The mirror can then be calibrated by driving the vehiclein circles at 5 mph (8 km/h) or less until the displayreads a direction.2-35
