Low-Speed DeactivationIf your speed falls below 20 mph (32 km/h) whilefollowing a vehicle ahead, Adaptive Cruise Control willbegin to disengage. The Driver Alert symbol willflash and the warning beep will sound. The driver musttake action since Adaptive Cruise Control will notslow the vehicle to a stop.Passing a Vehicle/Adaptive CruiseControl OverrideIf you need to increase speed to pass a vehicle, use theaccelerator pedal. While you are doing this, thesystem will not automatically apply the brakes. Amessage will appear on the DIC. See DIC Warningsand Messages on page 3-76. Once you removeyour foot from the accelerator pedal, Adaptive CruiseControl will return to normal operation and be ableto apply the brakes, if needed.{CAUTION:If you rest your foot on the accelerator pedal,the system will not automatically apply thebrakes. You could crash into a vehicle aheadof you. Do not rest your foot on the acceleratorpedal when using Adaptive Cruise Control.Curves in the Road{CAUTION:Due to Adaptive Cruise Control limitations incurves, it may respond to a vehicle in anotherlane, or may not have time to react to a vehiclein your lane. You could crash into a vehicleahead of you, or lose control of your vehicle.Give extra attention in curves and be ready touse the brakes if necessary. Select anappropriate speed while driving in curves.Adaptive Cruise Control may operate differently in asharp curve. It may reduce your speed if the curve istoo sharp.3-27
