150 LIGHTING2 : Turns on the headlamps togetherwith the parking lamps andinstrument panel lights.IntelliBeam ® SystemIf equipped, this system turns thevehicle's main beam headlamps onand off according to surroundingtraffic conditions.The system turns the main beamheadlamps on when it is dark enoughand there is no other traffic present.This light comes on in the instrumentcluster when the IntelliBeam systemis enabled.Turning On and Enabling IntelliBeamTo enable the IntelliBeam system,with the indicator lever in the neutralposition, turn the exterior lampcontrol to AUTO. The blue main beamon light appears on the instrumentcluster when the main beams are on.Driving with IntelliBeamThe system only activates the mainbeams when driving over 40 km/h(25 mph).There is a sensor near the top centreof the windscreen, whichautomatically controls the system.Keep this area of the windscreen clearof debris to allow for best systemperformance.The main beam headlamps remain on,under the automatic control, until oneof the following situations occurs:. The system detects anapproaching vehicle's headlamps.. The system detects a precedingvehicle's tail lamps.. The outside light is bright enoughthat main beam headlamps arenot required.. The vehicle's speed drops below20 km/h (12 mph).. The Intellibeam system is disabledby the high/low-beam changer orthe flash-to-pass feature. If thishappens, the high/low-beamchanger must be activated twotimes within two seconds toreactivate the Intellibeam system.The instrument cluster light willcome on to indicate theIntellibeam system is reactivated.See Headlamp Main/Dipped-BeamChanger 0 151 and Flash-to-Pass0 151.The main beams may not turn offautomatically if the system cannotdetect other vehicle's lamps becauseof any of the following:. The other vehicle's lamp(s) aremissing, damaged, obstructed fromview, or otherwise undetected.. The other vehicle's lamp(s) arecovered with dirt, snow, and/orroad spray.. The other vehicle's lamp(s) cannotbe detected due to dense exhaust,smoke, fog, snow, road spray, mist,or other airborne obstructions.
