ContactDell for more information.Front PanelThe following controls and indicators are easily accessi-ble on the computer’s front panel (see Figure 1-1):• The power button on the front panel controls thePS_ON signal, which enables and disables the mainpower supply output voltages. The green power indica-tor in the center of the power button lights up whenthe computer is turned on.You can also remotely shut down the PowerEdge 6100system using software such as the Dell HIP servermanagement program.• The reset button on the front panel saves wear and tearon system components by allowing you to reboot(restart) your computer without turning the poweroff and on again.For information about restricting the use of the power orreset button, see “Reset and Power Switch Locking” inChapter 4.Three indicator lights adjacent to each of the six SCSIhard-disk drives provide information on the drive in thatbay:• The green drive online indicator (identified by a roundicon) lights up when the hard-disk drive is receivingpower.• The green drive activity indicator (identified by acylinder-shaped icon) lights up when data is beingtransferred to or from the hard-disk drive.• If an optional Dell PowerEdge Expandable RAIDController SCSI host adapter card is installed in thesystem, the amber drive fault indicator (identified bya triangular icon) blinks if a disk failure has beendetected.
