Jumpers and Switches C-9Table C-4 lists the connectors on the power supply paral-leling board.Disabling a Forgotten PasswordThe computer’s software security features include asupervisor password and a user password, which are dis-cussed in detail in Chapter 4, “Using the System SetupProgram,” of the User’s Guide. A password jumper on thesystem board enables these password features or disablesthem and clears any password(s) currently in use.To disable a forgotten supervisor password or user pass-word, a trained service technician must perform thefollowing steps:1. Remove the computer covers.See “Removing the Computer Covers” in Chapter 7for instructions.2. Refer to “Jumpers and Switches—A GeneralExplanation” found earlier in this appendix forjumper information.Figure C-1 shows the location of the passwordjumper (labeled “PASSWD”) on the system board.3. Remove the jumper plug from the PASSWDjumper.4. Replace the computer covers, and then reconnectthe computer to its power source and turn it on.The existing passwords are not disabled (erased)until the system boots with the PASSWD jumperplug removed. However, before you assign a newsystem and/or user password, you must install thejumper plug.NOTE: If you assign a new system and/or user pass-word with the jumper plug still removed, the systemdisables the new password(s) the next time it boots.5. Repeat step 1.6. Install the jumper plug on the PASSWD jumper.7. Replace the computer covers, and then reconnectthe computer and peripherals to their powersources and turn them on.8. Have the user assign a new system and/or userpassword. To assign a new supervisor password using theSystem Setup program, see “Assigning a SupervisorPassword” in Chapter 4 of the User’s Guide. To assigna new supervisor password using the EISA Configura-tion Utility, see “Assigning or Changing a SupervisorPassword” in Chapter 5 of the User’s Guide. To assign a new user password using the SystemSetup program, see “Assigning a User Password” inChapter 4 of the User’s Guide.
