When you selectTest Limits, a new screen appears and the Key-Help arealists keys to use with the new screen.How you change a value for the limits of a test group orsubtest depends on the type of parameter associated withit. Different keys are used to change values for differenttypes of parameters. For example, memory address limitsspecified for the RAM Test Group are changed by typingnumbers over the digits of a given limit or by pressing theplus (+) or minus (–) key to increase or decrease the givenlimit. In contrast, to set limits for the Serial/Infrared PortsTest Group, you use the to toggle between Yesand No.After you are satisfied with the limits, return to the mainscreen of the diagnostics by pressing the key. Thevalues you selected under Test Limits remain in effect forall the test groups or subtests you run, unless you changethem. Thediagnostics exercises the functional components anddevices of the computer system more vigorously andthoroughly than they are exercised during normal opera-tion. The diagnostics is organized by components intotest groups and subtests within each test group. Each sub-test is designed to detect any errors that may interferewith the normal operation of a specific device of thecomputer.NOTE: Some subtests requiring hardware not listed inthe System Configuration area of the diagnostics screenappear to run, but they conclude with a status messagestating Component not present (or disabled).Table 5-2 lists the diagnostic test groups, their subtests,and comments concerning their use.CAUTION: It is important that you quit the diag-nostics program correctly because the programwrites data to the computer’s memory that cancause problems unless properly cleared.
