Creating and Using WaypointsWaypoints are locations or landmarks you record andstore in your GPS. They are locations you may wantto return to later, such as checkpoints on a route orother features. You can save several waypoints togeth-er to create a route.Save your current location as a waypoint by pressingand holding ENTER/MARK. The 76CS Plus storesup to 1000 alphanumeric waypoints with a user-de-fined icon, note, elevation, and depth available foreach waypoint. Waypoints can be created using threebasic methods:• ENTER/MARK—quickly mark your presentposition.• Graphically—define a new waypoint positionfrom the Map page.• Text Entry—enter a new waypoint’s positioncoordinates manually.• Save—save a Find Menu item as a waypoint.Marking Your Present PositionThe ENTER/MARK key lets you quickly captureyour present position to create a new waypoint. Youmust have a valid position (2D or 3D) fix to markyour present position. You can determine the satellitefix by looking at the Satellite page.To mark your present position:1. Press and hold theENTER/MARK key untilthe Mark Waypoint pageappears. A default three-digit name and symbolare assigned for the newwaypoint.2. To accept the waypointwith the defaultinformation, pressENTER.3. To change any information, highlight theappropriate field and press ENTER.
