September 2016 Service ManualChecklist B ProceduresPart No. 38139 AWP Super Series • IWP Super Series 51B-6 Cl ean and Lubric ate the C olum nsB-6Clean and Lubricate the ColumnsGenie requires that this procedure be performedevery 250 hours or quarterly, whichever comesfirst.Clean and properly lubricated columns areessential to good machine performance and safeoperation. Extremely dirty conditions may requirethat the columns be cleaned and lubricated moreoften.1 Raise the platform to the maximum height.2 Visually inspect the inner and outer channelsof the columns for debris or foreign material. Ifnecessary, use a mild cleaning solvent toclean he columns.Bodily injury hazard. Thisprocedure will require the use ofadditional access equipment. Donot place ladders or scaffold onor against any part of themachine. Performing thisprocedure without the properskills and tools could result indeath or serious injury. Dealerservice is stronglyrecommended.3 If needed, apply a generous amount ofBoe-lube wax (Genie part number 90337) tothe inside and outside channels of eachcolumn.B-7 T est the Li fting C apaci tyB-7Test the Lifting CapacityGenie requires that this procedure be performedevery 250 hours or quarterly, whichever comesfirst.Proper lifting capacity is essential to safe machineoperation. Improper lifting capacity adjustmentcould allow machine to be overloaded and maycause death or serous injury.Bodily injury hazard. Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without these skillsand tools could result in death orserious injury and significantcomponent damage. Dealerservice is strongly recommended.1 Place the maximum rated load in the platform.Secure the load to the platform.Note: Refer to the operator's manual or the loadcapacity decal on the machine to determine themaximum load capacity.2 Raise the platform slightly.Result: The hydraulic power unit should raisethe platform.3 Fully lower the platform.4 Add additional weight to the platform that isequal to, but does not exceed 20% of themaximum rated load. Secure the additionalweight. Refer to the machine serial plate.5 Raise the platform slightly.Result: The hydraulic power unit should not beable to raise the platform.6 Note: If the hydraulic power unit is unable to liftrated load or lifts more than rated load, refer toRepair Procedure, Valve Adjustment.
