Service Manual September 2016Checklist B Procedures52 AWP Super Series • IWP Super Series Part No. 38139B-8 Adj ust the Sequencing C abl esB-8Adjust the Sequencing CablesGenie requires that this procedure be performedevery 250 hours or quarterly, whichever comesfirst.Maintaining proper adjustment of the sequencingcables is essential for safe machine operation. Anunsafe working condition exists if the sequencingcables are improperly adjusted. A daily check ofthe sequencing cables allows the inspector toidentify changes in the operating condition thatmight indicate damage. To serial number 3899-118431 Fully lower the platform.2 Check the deflection on each sequencingcable by grasping the cable halfway down thecolumn and pulling the cable to one side thenthe other. Measure the total distance betweenthe two points (this is the maximum deflection)1 adjustment (tension) nut2 threaded swage end3 sequencing cable3 If needed, adjust the sequencing cabledeflection.4 Hold the threaded swage end of the cablefrom turning and adjust the tension nut toobtain correct deflection. Turn the adjustmentnut clockwise to decrease the deflection orcounterclockwise to increase the deflection.Component damage hazard. Donot exceed the recommendeddeflection.5 Raise and lower the platform through threecomplete cycles and confirm deflection.6 Repeat adjustment for each cable as required.Deflection, Maximum 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches3.8 to 6.4 cmAfter serial number 3899-118431 Fully lower the platform.2 Check for proper deflection of eachsequencing cable by inspecting the springcompression. The spring is located betweenthe nylock nut and the upper sequencingbracket.1 nylock nut2 spring3 upper sequencing bracket4 sequencing cable
