Configuring the serverThe following configuration programs are provided with your server:v Configuration/Setup UtilityThis program is part of the basic input/output system (BIOS) that comes with yourserver. You can use this program to configure serial port assignments, changeinterrupt request (IRQ) settings, change the drive startup sequence, set the dateand time, and set passwords. See “Using the Configuration/Setup Utilityprogram” for more information.v SCSISelect UtilityWith the built-in SCSISelect Utility program, you can configure the devicesattached to the integrated SCSI controller. See “Using the SCSISelect utilityprogram” on page 29 for more information.v PXE Boot Agent UtilityThe Preeboot eXecution Environment (PXE) Boot Agent Utility program is partof the BIOS code that comes with your server. You can use this program tochange network startup (boot) protocols and startup (boot) order, to selectoperating system wake up support, and to set menu wait times. See “Using thePXE boot agent utility program” on page 31 for more informationv ServerGuide CDsThe ServerGuide CDs include software setup and installation tools specificallydesigned for IBM xSeries servers. You can use these CDs during the initialinstallation of your server to configure the server hardware and simplify yournetwork operating system installation. The ServerGuide CDs also contain acollection of application programs, which you can install after your server is upand running.v ServeRAID programsThe ServeRAID programs come with the optional ServeRAID adapters and withserver models that have a ServeRAID adapter preinstalled. If your server has aServeRAID adapter installed, you must use the ServeRAID configurationprogram to define and configure your disk-array subsystem before you installyour operating system. Refer to the ServeRAID documentation provided on thexSeries Documentation CD for more information.Using the Configuration/Setup Utility programThis section provides the instructions needed to start the Configuration/SetupUtility program and descriptions of the menu choices available.Starting the Configuration/Setup Utility programTo start the Configuration/Setup Utility program:1. Turn on the server and watch the monitor screen.2. When the message Press F1 for Configuration/Setup appears, press F1.Note: If you have set both levels of passwords (user and administrator), youmust type the administrator password to access the fullConfiguration/Setup menu.3.
