Error Symptom FRU/ActionCD-ROM drive is not recognized. 1. Run Configuration/Setup, enable primary IDE channel.2. Check cables and jumpers.3. Check for correct device driver.4. System Board5. Run CD-ROM diagnostics6. CD-ROM DrivePower switch does not work and resetbutton does work. There is not a jumperfor forcing power on for the server.1. Verify that the power-on control jumper on J23 extension cable ison pins 1 and 2.2. Power Switch Assembly3. System BoardDiskette drive in-use light stays on, or thesystem bypasses the diskette drive, or thediskette drive does not work1. If there is a diskette in the drive, verify that:a. The diskette drive is enabled in the Configuration/Setup utilityprogram.b. The diskette is good and not damaged. (Try another diskette ifyou have one.)c. The diskette is inserted correctly in the drive.d. The diskette contains the necessary files to start the server.e. The software program is OK.f. Cable is installed correctly (proper orientation)2. Run Diskette Drive Diagnostics3. Cable4. Diskette Drive5. System BoardMonitor problems (general). Some IBMmonitors have their own self-tests. If yoususpect a problem with the monitor, referto the information that comes with themonitor for adjusting and testinginstructions.1. Monitor2. Run Video Diagnostics. If diagnostics pass, the problem may be avideo driver.3. Display Adapter / System BoardFixed Disk diagnostic does not recognizedrives. Test shows fewer drives thanactually installed.Remove first drive that does not appear and rerun diagnostic.
