329MAINTENANCE9BASIC MANUAL■ TroubleshootingThe following chart is designed to help you correct problems which are not equipment malfunctions.If you are unable to locate the cause of a problem, or solve it through the use of this chart, contact your nearest Icom Dealer orService Center.PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION REF.Transceiver does not turnON.• The battery is exhausted.• The battery polarity is reversed.• Loose connection of a battery pack(case).• Charge the battery pack, or replacethe batteries.• Check the battery polarity in the case.• Clean the battery terminals.p. 6——No sound comes from thespeaker.• Volume level is too low.• Squelch level is too high.• An external speaker is connected tothe [SP] jack.• Rotate [VOL] to adjust the level.• Adjust the squelch level.• Check the external speakerconnection.p. 7p. 11—Sensitivity is too low, andonly strong signals are heard.• The coaxial cable is not connected, orshorted (External antenna is used).• Check the coaxial cable connection orreplace with a new one.—No reply is received aftera call.• The duplex is set, and the receive andtransmit frequencies are different.• No station is in range or on the samefrequency.• Set the simplex operation.• Wait for a while, and try again.ADVANCEDMANUAL(Section 10)Frequency cannot be set. • The Key Lock function is activated.• The VFO mode is not selected.• Cancel the Key Lock function.• Push [V/MHz] to select the VFO mode.p. 14p. 13The displayed frequency iserroneous.• The CPU has malfunctioned.• External factors have caused a fault.• Reset the transceiver.• Remove and reattach the batterypack/case.p. 31p. 5
