7-32 Adding OptionsUse external termination when both internal and externalSCSI devices are installed.NOTE: In all SCSI configurations (internal and ex-ternal), a terminated device must be attached to theend connector on the SCSI cable.Termination PowerThe SCSI controller is factory set to supply terminationpower to the SCSI bus. If your SCSI device provides asetting for termination power, disable the drive power. Setthe termination power supplied by the device to “auto powersense” or “off.”Motor Start at Power-OnIn multiple SCSI drive configurations, disable the SCSIdrive’s motor start at power-on feature. Set the motor tostart with a Start Unit command from the SCSI controller.Disabling the motor start at power-on allows the SCSI de-vices to start up one at a time and prevents a power surge.SCSI IDsSCSI identification (ID) numbers configure all SCSIdevices on internal and external SCSI cables with a deviceaddress for the SCSI bus. You can attach up to five internaldevices to the internal SCSI cable. You can attach up to seven external devices to the SCSI busthrough the SCSI connector on the rear of the system. If in-stalling both internal and external SCSI devices, you canattach a total of seven devices.
