3-22 Setting System ParametersIf using a static device driver, you need to permanentlyassociate resources with a Plug and Play board, instead ofdepending on Plug and Play behavior. Otherwise, the devicedriver might not be able to find the board the next time thesystem boots.PCI Devices ParametersThe Combed I/O Resource Allocation parameter defaultsetting is disabled. The parameter should be enabled onlywhen a non-Plug and Play board is not working due to I/Ospace resource conflicts. This is particularly true for olderboards using 10-bit I/O space decoders rather than the full16-bit I/O space.Select the PCI Devices parameter and enable the CombedI/O Resource Allocation parameter if you need to allocateI/O resources (see the following table).Use the legend keys to make your selections and exit to theMain menu.PCI Device ParametersPARAMETER OPTIONS DESCRIPTIONCombed I/OResource AllocationEnabledDisabled(default)If Enabled, PCI devices requesting I/Oresources are checked for requests lessthan or equal to 256 bytes, that actual I/Oresources are allocated in the first 256bytes of a 1 KB block of I/O addresses, and that all PCI-to-PCI bridges (PPB)have their ISA Enable bits set.NOTE: The BIOS enables Combed I/O ResourceAllocation if it finds a configurable PCI VGA down-stream of a PPB.
