NAT 83Note 2: No patch is required for SRG 1.0 based on BCM 3.7 or SRG50systemsFor more information about SRG, see Main Office Configuration Guide forSurvivable Remote Gateway 50 (NN43001-307).External Applications ServerThe External Applications Server (XAS) applications are not available onthe handsets.End-to-end QoSEnd-to-end QoS, such as DiffServ, and Layer 2 QoS, such as 802.1 Qp, arenot supported on the wireless telephone system. Any UNIStim commandssent to the wireless handsets attempting to adjust Layer 2 or Layer 3 QoSparameters are ignored. However, the WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245 can tag packets with aDifferentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) tag. For more information, see"Quality of Service" (page 177). You can also provide QoS mechanismsthrough the configuration of network equipment. The Layer 2 switch port to which the WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245 isconnected can be configured to add 802.1 Qp tagging. The Layer 3 portthat acts as the gateway for the WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245 can beconfigured to add the appropriate DiffServ tagging. Since all of the signalingand media traffic passes through the WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245,all packets are tagged with the appropriate priority. If more than one WLANIP Telephony Manager 2245 is used, each Layer 2 port to which a WLANIP Telephony Manager 2245 is connected must be configured to add the802.1 Qp tagging.NAT Handsets can be deployed in an Network Address Translation (NAT)environment. This section describes important considerations that must be taken intoaccount when using the handsets in a NAT environment. Failure to complywith or heed these considerations can result in wireless handset malfunction. For detailed information about NAT and the NAT Traversal feature, see IPLine Fundamentals (NN43001-500).Nortel Communication Server 1000WLAN IP Telephony Installation and CommissioningNN43001-504 01.02 StandardRelease 5.0 15 June 2007Copyright © 2004-2007, Nortel Networks.
