When ECM (ErrorCorrection Mode) is turned on, pages that aredistorted are automatically re-transmitted. Thissetting is initially turned on. If turned off, distortedimages will be transmitted without being corrected.Distinctive ring detectionIf multiple telephone numbers have been assignedto your telephone line, the number called can beidentified by its ringing pattern. By using onenumber for voice calls and another number forfaxes, you can tell which type of call you arereceiving by the ringing pattern. You can set yourmachine to automatically receive faxes when yourfax number is called by setting the pattern thatcorresponds to your fax number. Six selections areavailable. Normally OFF is selected.Disable of fax number direct entryWhen the fax function is enabled, this program isused to prohibit dialing of a destination fax numberby direct entry with the numeric keys. To prohibitdialing by direct entry with the numeric keys, touchthe checkbox to select it. When this is done, faxescan only be sent to destinations that have beenstored, and thus this program can be used torestrict fax destinations and prevent accidentaltransmission to an incorrect number. The followingoperations are also prohibited: Storing one-touch dial numbers Direct entry of fax numbers when storing a group Direct entry of fax numbers of relay destinationsin a relay broadcast memory box Fax send settingsThe fax transmission settings allow you to adjustcertain parameters for sending faxes to better suityour needs.The fax send settings are as follows: Auto reduction sending setting Rotation sending setting Printing page number at receiver Call timer at memory sending Date/own number print position setting Quick on line sending Recall in case of line busy Recall in case of communication errorAuto reduction sending settingThis setting lets you select whether to have atransmitted document reduced to match the size ofthe other machine's printing paper. Auto reductionis normally turned on. If the setting is turned off,documents are sent in their original size. Becausethe size is not adjusted to match the size of theprinting paper, part of the received document maybe cut off.Rotation sending settingWhen transmitting a document, this setting allowsyou to rotate a vertically oriented 8-1/2"x11" (A4)document to a horizontal orientation (8-1/2"x11"R(A4R)), or rotate a 5-1/2"x8-1/2R" (A5R) documentto 5-1/2"x8-1/2" (A5). The setting is normallyturned on, and documents are rotatedcounterclockwise. (8-1/2"x11"R (A4R) documentsare not rotated.)Rotation settings can be separately established fordifferent document sizes. To turn off a rotationsetting, touch the checkbox of the appropriatesetting to remove the checkmark.Printing page number at receiverThis setting lets you select whether page numbersare printed at the top of fax pages by the receivingmachine.
