30User’s GuideChanging answering modeFollow these instructions to change the answering mode on your faxmachine.1. Press the Auto Rec key. Your fax machine displays your currentanswering mode.2. Press the Auto Rec key again. Your fax machine switches to thenext answering mode.3. Continue pressing the Auto Rec key until the answering mode youwant appears on the display. After a short pause, your fax machineprograms the new answering mode and returns to standby modedisplaying the new answering mode setting.Fax machine identificationFax machines use the information you will enter here to identifythemselves during communications. In most countries programming thisinformation into your fax machine is a legal requirement. The informationyou will enter here includes:TSI/CSI: This is the telephone number of your fax machine. This numberappears on displays and reports of other fax machines you arecommunicating with. This number may also be printed at the top of faxesyou send to other fax machines.Sender ID: This is a descriptive title and is usually the location of your faxmachine or the name of your company or office. The Sender ID is printedat the top of every fax you send. You can enter up to 32 characters. Thefirst 16 characters of your Sender ID will also be used as your Personal ID,which may appear on the displays or reports of other fax machines you arecommunicating with.Call Back Number: The Call Back Number is a telephone number (not afax number) which the operator of the remote machine can use to reachyou. If you use the voice request function while you are transmitting toanother fax machine and no one is there to answer, your fax machine willautomatically send a cover letter with a call back message. The call backmessage is printed in a separate sheet with the message “Please call back”and a telephone number where you can be reached. The call back numberentered here is the number that appears on the call back message.
