26Handling Discs●Using discsDVD-RAM and DVD-R discs are very delicaterecording media. Carefully read the followingcautions and observe them:• When using disc on this DVD Palmcorder, besure to keep it in Round DVD Holder.• Always use a brand new disc when recordingimportant material.• Be sure not to touch the discexposed portion, and becareful that no dirt adheres toit.• If there is dust, scratch, dirt ondisc or if it is warped, thefollowing phenomena may occur:− Block noise in playbackimage− Momentary stop of playbackimage− Sound interrupted duringplayback, or abnormal sound− Blue thumbnail display(Fig. 1)− Disc cannot correctly berecognized− Delay between videoand audioEven if disc is normal, theabove phenomena mayoccasionally occur. While the ACCESS/PCindicator is lit, do not subject disc to vibrations orimpact, and avoid using DVD Palmcorder atextremely high or low temperatures, or inenvironment where condensation is likely tooccur.• When recording images,the DVD Palmcorder mayavoid the portions of discwhere recording is notpossible, due to dust,scratches, etc. [It willpause . at such a portionand automatically restartrecording (/).]This will cause recordingto be interrupted for several seconds to severalminutes, and multiple thumbnails will be createdby one recording session as shown above.
