5IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDSIn addition to the careful attention devoted to quality standards in the manufacture of your video product, safety is a majorfactor in the design of every instrument. But, safety is your responsibility too.This page lists important information that will help to assure your enjoyment and proper use of DVD Palmcorder andaccessory equipment. Please read it carefully before operating your video product and keep it in a handy place for futurereference.INSTALLATION1 Read and Follow Instructions — All the safety andoperating instructions should be read before the videoproduct is operated. Follow all operating and useinstructions.2 Retain Instructions — The safety and operatinginstructions should be retained for future reference.3 Heed Warnings — Comply with all warnings on thevideo product and in the operating instructions.4 Power Sources — This video product should beoperated only from the type of power source indicatedon the marking label. If you are not sure of the type ofpower supply to your home, consult your video dealeror local power company. For video products intendedto operate from battery power, or other sources, referto the operating instructions.5 Overloading — Do not overloadwall outlets and extension cordsas this can result in a risk of fire orelectric shock. Overloaded ACoutlets and extension cords aredangerous, and so are frayedpower cables, damaged orcracked wire insulation andbroken plugs. They may result ina shock or fire hazard. Periodically examine the cordand have it replaced by your service technician ifappearance indicates damage or deterioratedinsulation.6 Power-Cord Protection — Power-supply cordsshould be routed so that they are not likely to be walkedon or pinched by items placed upon or against them,paying particular attention to cords at plugs,convenience receptacles, and the point where theyexit from the appliance.7 Ventilation — Slots and openings in the cabinet areprovided for ventilation to ensure reliable operation ofthe video product and to protect it from overheating.These openings must not be blocked or covered. Theopenings should never be blocked by placing the videoproduct on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.This video product should never be placed near or overa radiator or heat register. This video product shouldnot be placed in a built-in installation such as abookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is providedor the video product manufacturer's instructions havebeen followed.8 Attachments — Do not use attachments unlessrecommended by the video product manufacturer asthey may cause hazards.Caution: Maintain electrical safety. Powerline operatedequipment or accessories connected to this unit shouldbear the UL listing mark or CSA certification mark on theaccessory itself and should not have been modified so asto defeat the safety features. This will help avoid anypotential hazard from electric shock or fire. If in doubt,contact qualified service personnel.9 Water and Moisture — Do not use this video productnear water — for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl,kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or neara swimming pool, and the like.10 Accessories — Do not place this video product on anunstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. Thevideo product may fall, causing serious injury to a childor adult, and serious damage to the appliance. Useonly with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or tablerecommended by the manufacturer, or sold with thevideo product.
