13Front panelP TRIM buttonsThese buttons are used to make fine adjustments to theIN or OUT point.By pressing the i or j button while the IN button or OUTbutton is held down, the registered edit point can beadjusted in 1-frame increments. When the i button ispressed, the point is moved ahead by one frame;conversely, when the j button is pressed, it is movedback by one frame.The playback phase can be adjusted by pressing the ior j button while holding down the PLAY button.Q REW buttonWhen this button is pressed, the tape is rewound.The rewinding speed can be selected using setup menuitem No.102 (FF.REW MAX).R STOP buttonWhen this button is pressed, the tape stops traveling, andif TAPE is selected as the OUTPUT setting on the menu, still pictures can be monitored.Even in the stop mode, the drum continues to rotate, andthe tape remains tightly wound around the drum.Therefore, when the VTR is left in the stop mode beyonda specific period of time, it is automatically set to thestandby OFF mode in order to protect the tape. The VTRis set to the stop mode immediately after the cassette hasbeen installed.S FF buttonWhen this button is pressed, the tape is fast forwarded.The fast forwarding speed can be selected using setupmenu item No.102 (FF.REW MAX).T EDIT buttonThis button is pressed together with the PLAY buttonduring playback to initiate manual editing.When the button is pressed in the stop mode, the inputsignals in the mode selected by the menuor menu can be monitored in the E-E mode.F1Parts and Their FunctionsWhen the STOP button is pressed, the original pictureand sound are restored.During playback, search, fast forwarding or rewinding, theinput signals in the mode selected by the menu or menu can be monitored in the E-Emode while the button is held down.No guarantees are made for the sound played back in thesearch mode.U PLAY buttonPress this button to start playback.When this button is pressed together with the RECbutton, recording starts; when this button is pressedtogether with the EDIT button during playback, manualediting starts.However, manual editing will not be initiated if the servois not locked. When only the PLAY button is pressedduring manual editing, editing is exited, and the playbackmode is established.V REC buttonWhen this button is pressed together with the PLAYbutton, recording starts.W SERVO lampThis lamp lights when the drum servo or capstan servolocks.X REC INHIBIT lampThis lights or goes off in accordance with the status of theaccidental erasure prevention tab on the cassette tapeand the setting which has been selected for RECINH on the menu.
