Advanced (Recording pictures)38VQT1J82• When the shutter speed is fast, the flasheffect may not be sufficient.• It may take time to charge the flash if yourepeat taking a picture. Take a pictureafter the access indication disappears.• The red-eye reduction effect differsbetween people. Also, if the subject wasfar away from the camera or was notlooking at the first flash, the effect may notbe evident.• When the flash is activated, you can onlytake 1 picture.Taking Pictures withthe Self-timer1 Press 2 [ ].2 Press 3/4 to select a mode.• You can also press 2 [ ] to select.3 Press [MENU/SET].• You can also press the shutterbutton halfway to finish.• The menu screen disappears afterabout 5 seconds. At this time, theselected item is automatically set.4 Press the shutter button halfwayto focus and then press it fully totake the picture.A Press the shutter button halfway tofocus.B Press the shutter button fully to takethe picture.• The self-timer indicator C blinks andthe shutter is activated after 10 seconds(or 2 seconds).• If you press [MENU/SET] while theself-timer is set, the self-timer setting iscanceled.• When using a tripod etc., setting theself-timer to 2 seconds is a convenientway to avoid the jitter caused by pressingthe shutter button.• When you press the shutter button oncefully, the subject is automatically focusedjust before recording. In dark places, theself-timer indicator will blink and then mayturn on brightly operating as an AF assistlamp (P64) to allow the camera to focuson the subject.• The self-timer is fixed to 10 seconds inintelligent auto mode [ ] and to 2seconds in clipboard mode [ ] or[SELF PORTRAIT] (P43) in scene mode.• When you set the self-timer in burst mode,the camera starts taking a picture 2 or10 seconds after the shutter button ispressed. The number of pictures taken atone time is fixed to 3.• The self-timer cannot be set in[HI-SPEED BURST] and[UNDERWATER] in scene mode.• We recommend using a tripod whenrecording with the self-timer.AB
