Mains and motor side filtersIt is usually necessary to use external filters in addition to internal filters the drive is providedwith, on the mains input and sometimes on the motor output. The mains filter must be mounted as close as possible to the drive and on the same drivepanel, and must have a large area of contact with the power panel or the mounting plate. If distance exceeds 30cm, the effect decreases and a screened cable must be used betweenfilter and converter. The filter earth terminal must be connected to the earth bar along the shortest possible route. With SLVD-N series the utilization of the external filters depend of the model and the sistemsupply, the following char shows the different courses:supplymodel three-phase by transformer withelectrostatic shield (*) mono-phase with transformer (*) three-phase direct connection orauto-transformer mono-phase direct connectionSLVD1NSLVD2NSLVD5NUp to 20 meters without external filterSLVD7N Up to 10 meters without external filterSLVD10NSLVD15NSLVD17NUp to 30 meters without external filterExternal filter necessary(*) secondary connected to groundFerrite toroids are generally used for the motor output, with multiple turns obtained bywinding the 3 motor cables contemporarily.
