Chapter 4: KX III Administrator Help49Create User Groups and UsersNote to CC-SG UsersWhen the KX III is controlled by CommandCenter Secure Gateway, CC-SGauthenticates users and groups, except for local users requiring Localport access.When CC-SG is controlling the KX III, local port users will beauthenticated against the local user database or the remoteauthentication server (LDAP/LDAPS or RADIUS) configured on the KX III.They will not be authenticated against the CC-SG user database.For additional information about CC-SG authentication, see theCommandCenter Secure Gateway User Guide, Administrator Guide,or Deployment Guide, which can be downloaded from the Supportsection of theRaritan website http://www.raritan.com.Supported ProtocolsTo simplify management of usernames and passwords, the KX IIIprovides the ability to forward authentication requests to an externalauthentication server. Two external authentication protocols aresupported: LDAP/LDAPS and RADIUS.Note on Microsoft Active DirectoryMicrosoft ® Active Directory® uses the LDAP/LDAPS protocol natively, andcan function as an LDAP/LDAPS server and authentication source for theKX III. If it has the IAS (Internet Authorization Server) component, aMicrosoft Active Directory server can also serve as a RADIUSauthentication source.Step 5: Launching the KX III Remote Console1. Launch a supported web browser, and enter the IP address assignedto the KX III.2. A default client is launched based on your pc and browser settings.SeeKX III KVM Clients (on page 257).
