2-4 Chapter 2Hardware DescriptionsIf configured as PRI, it contains 30 ISDN channels. Protocol is compatible with Euro-ISDNPRI. (See also PLL, above.)Media Gateway Interface (MGI3)Provides a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway between IP and non-IP parts of thetelephone system, as well as Codec conversion. The main features of the MGI3 card are:y On-board Flash memory and data memoryy Echo cancellation function supportedy Silence suppression function supported, preventing data transfer on the network for thebrief silent intervals between words during callsProvides an 8-channel interface (expandable to 16 by the addition of a daughterboard) usingthe G.711, G.723 and G.729 Codecs for speech compression and T.38 protocol for fax or IPcommunication. It also supports proprietary SPnet IP networking.MGI3 acts as a universal gateway for generic types of VoIP handsets. A maximum of threecards can be installed in the KSU.All power to run the system comes from the power supply. Each power supply is rated ac-cording to the number of stations it will support. When the MGI3 card is installed, it counts aseight (8) stations of the PSU rating.3BSIProvides interface circuits for up to three base stations for DECT 8000. When the 3BSI cardis installed, it counts as twelve (12) stations of the PSU rating; therefore a maximum of 36keysets can be connected. Only one card can be installed in the KSU.2. Station Cards2SLIThe 2SLI card is installed in the dedicated SLI slot on the KSU motherboard. The card pro-vides two single line telephone interfaces equipped with Long Line protection and the abilityto provide a loop-disconnect signal.8SLIThe 8SLI card provides eight SLI ports for industry–standard single line telephones and theability to provide a loop-disconnect signal. This card does not provide Long Line protection.8DLIProvides eight DLI ports for digital stations.
