Make a configuration printout of all saved configurations. (Refer to theUser’s Manual.)NOTE: The MAC address for the onboard ethernet interface on the V6controller board will be printed on the printer’s configuration printoutafter completing this replacement procedure.2. Prepare the printer for maintenance (page 154).3. Cabinet Models: Remove the paper path (page 222).Pedestal Models: Remove the top cover assembly (page 204).4. Loosen but do not remove the screw securing the metal shield to thebottom of the card cage, on the left side near the card cage fan.CAUTION Do not separate the controller board from the metal shield. The shieldserves as a stiffener and ground plane, and is an integral part of thecontroller board assembly.7. Slide the controller board assembly to the left until the keyway clears thescrew securing the controller board to the bottom of the card cage. Lift thecontroller board out of the printer.8. If you are removing the controller board for reasons other thanreplacement (i.e., you will re-install the original controller board at somepoint), you do not need to remove the flash memory or security key. But ifyou are replacing the controller board, remove the flash SIMM andsecurity key (page 234), and install them on the replacement controllerboard. The security key must be installed on the replacement controllerboard to ensure the printer functions correctly.
