Stacker Motor Check3616. Using the rear operator panel, press the PAPER ADVANCE (downarrow) key until three or four pages feed through the stacker throat.a. Check the LCD on the front operator panel for faults. If there is a fault,the paper out detector is failing and needs to be checked andcleaned.b. If there are no faults on the LCD, load the forms in the printer andthrough the stacker throat. Feed enough forms into the stacker sothat they fold properly in the tray or stacker base.7. Run a Ripple Print or All H’s print test (page 136), and make sure thatboth rows of rubber paddles are rotating inward and the pinch rollers arerotating downward.8. Run the All E’s + FF test (page 136) for ten pages. The stacker shouldstack and fold the paper without errors.9. Move the elevator up approximately one inch and cover the emitter withopaque or black tape. From your laptop or the host computer, run amultiple page print job. The elevator should start to move upward about1/2 inch every three seconds until it reaches its topmost position. TheLCD should display STACKER FULL when the elevator reaches the topof its travel.10. Lower the elebator by pressing ELEVATOR DOWN key. The elevatorshould stop at its bottom position without motor noise. If you hear motornoise, do the “Stacker ‘chatters’ at upper or lower limit” procedure onpage 119.11. Set the elevator at the lowest position permitted by the amount of paperstacked in the tray. Run an operator print test and induce a paper jambefore the paper throat of the power stacker. STACKER JAM shoulddisplay on the front operator panel.12. If the stacker has not failed any test up to this point, the stacker checksout OK. If errors occurred during these checks refer to Table 3 on page46 and troubleshoot the appropriate symptom. When the stacker isoperational, clear the error log and place the printer online.Stacker Motor Check1. Power off the printer.2. Open the rear cabinet door.3. Unfasten the cable clamp holding the stacker control panel cables.4. Disconnect stacker rail cable connector P107 from J3 on the back of thestacker operator panel.5. Disconnect stacker frame cable connector P102 from connector J4 on theback of the stacker operator panel.6. Find pin 1 of connectors P107 and P102.7. Check both cables for damaged pins, continuity, and shorts.
