9 – Operations related to timecode–Video resolutionTASCAM DA-98HR 67As well as selecting rechase, you can also select thelength of the “rechase window”. This means that ifthe difference between internal and incoming time-code is greater than the value of this window (1 or 2seconds in the case of the DA-98HR), the synchro-nizer will start to rechase.1 Go to menu group 4, move the cursor toRechsMode (rechase mode) and pressENTER:2 Use the Ó and Á keys to select the leftModefield, and the § and ¶ keys to choosebetween rechase and free.3 If you select rechase, use the Ó key tomove to the right field, and select a Windowof either 1 or 2 seconds.9.6.11 Bypassing timecode errorsAs timecode is received from a remote master unit, itmay be subject to errors (dropouts on the timecodemaster tape, etc.). These errors can cause synchroni-zation failure (the DA-98HR will no longer be lockedto the timecode of the master unit). You can set the DA-98HR to bypass and ignoreincoming timecode errors of up to 30 frames inlength, or up to 10 frames in length.1 Go to menu group 4, move the cursor toErrBypass (Error Bypass), and pressENTER:1 Use the § and ¶ keys to select between 10frame and 30 frame.9.6.12 Individual recording whilechasing timecodeIf slave DTRS units are chasing a master DTRS unit, the default action is for the slaves’ record status tofollow that of the master. If the slaves are connectedwith TC as well as SYNC, and have TC rather thanABS selected as the timing reference, this defaultbehavior can be overridden using the functiondescribed here.1 Go to menu group 4, move the cursor toTcChs Rec (timecode chase record), andpress ENTER:2 Use the § and ¶ keys to select betweenenable (individual recording is possiblewhile chasing to timecode) and disable(all chasing units will follow the record statusof the first unit).9.7 Video resolutionAs explained above, if the DA-98HR is to be syn-chronized with a VTR, all units must share a com-mon video reference for the digital audio clocks, generated either by the VTR or from a sync genera-tor.As well as the sample clock, the timecode can be ref-erenced to a video clock (i.e. the start of each time-code frame is synchronized with each frameboundary received at the VIDEO IN terminal) or canbe independent of the received frame clock.Additionally, in a similar way to timecode rechasemode 9.6.10, “Rechasing timecode”, the DA-98HRcan be set to rechase the video frame sync (mutingplayback output as it rechases), or to run freely oncesync is achieved, ignoring any breaks in the receivedvideo signal.1 Go to menu group 5, move the cursor to VidRslv (Video Resolve) and press ENTER:2 Use the Ó and Á keys to select the frame syn-chronization mode (on/off) and the §and ¶ keys to toggle it on and off.3 Use the Ó and Á keys to select the videorechase mode (either free or re-sync).R e c h a s e M o d eM o d e W i n d o wr e c h a s e 1 s e cE r r o r B y p a s s1 0 F r a m eT C C h a s e I n d i v .
