Ifthe second type of command is received, the displaydoes not change, the fast forward and rewind indica-tors light steadily, and the SHUTTLE indicator cflashes.10.3.6 Track mappingWhen a controller arms and records on tracks, youneed to specify which tracks on the controller corre-spond to particular tracks on the DA-98HR. Thevideo controller protocol allows for control of up toeight digital and four analog audio tracks. The settingdescribed here allows you to map controller tracks toDA-98HR tracks. This mapping does not imply any correspondencebetween the user interface of the controller and theDA-98HR tracks—it refers to the relationshipbetween the command signals transmitted by thecontroller and the DA-98HR tracks. The relationshipbetween the user interface of the controller and thecommand signals must be determined using the con-troller itself.NOTENot all eight tracks may be available , depending on theavailable track setting (6.2.1, “Available tracks”). Unavail-able tracks will simply be ignored.1 Go to menu group 6, move the cursor to TrkMap(track mapping) and press ENTER:The lines above show the analog and digital tracks towhich the DA-98HR tracks on the bottom line arecurrently assigned. The terms “analog” and ‘digital” used here havenothing to do with whether tracks actually are analogor digital. They correspond to the terms “Analog”and “Digital” tracks which are used by the controller. In the assignment above, therefore, when the control-ler refers to analog track 3, it is actually addressingDA-98HR track 3, and when referring to digital track4, it is addressing DA-98HR track 8.2 Use the § and ¶ keys to select the track map-ping for use with your setup. The pre-setoptions available are shown below:There are no user-settable track mappings, but thesepre-set mappings are designed to cover almost everyset of circumstances.10.3.7 Timecode track mappingThis is a special instance of track mapping, where thetrack corresponding to analog track 3 in the control-ler’s command signals is mapped either to the digitalaudio track selected above (10.3.6, “Track map-ping”), or to the DA-98HR’s dedicated timecodetrack.1 Go to menu group 6, move the cursor to TCRec EN and press ENTER:2 Use the § and ¶ keys to select betweenenable and disable. If you choose disable, the track referredto by the controller’s command signals as“analog 3” will be the audio track designatedas “analog 3” in the Track MappingT r a c k M a p p i n gA n a 1 2 3 4D i g 1 2 3 4T r k 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8DA-98HRtrack ⇒1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8Analog 1 2 3 4Digital 1 2 3 4AnalogDigital 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8Analog 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4DigitalAnalog 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4DigitalAnalogDigital 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4AnalogDigital 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4T C R e c o r d E n a b l ed i s a b l e
