TASCAM DP-32SD 417 - Recorder FunctionsPunching in and outPunching in/out is a technique used to replace a part of analready recorded track.Start playback and when you reach the part that you wantto replace, switch to record (punch in), then switch back toplayback (or stop) when you finish replacing the part that youwant (punch out).1. Decide what part of the track you plan to re-record.Choose a point to begin where the new recording can sitwell with the existing recording.2. Press the REC buttons of the tracks that you want to partiallyre-record to put them into recording standby (REC buttonsstart flashing).3. Start playback before the part you want to replace.4. When the part you want to replace is reached, press theRECORD (0) button and start your performance.Recording starts (punch in).5. When you finish the replacement recording, press the PLAY(t) button.Playback resumes (punch out).TIPYou can also press the STOP (8) button to punch out at the end ofthe replacement recording.Using a footswitch to punch in/outYou can connect a TASCAM RC-3F footswitch (sold separately) tothe REMOTE jack on the front panel and use it to punch in andout.In step 4 above, step on the footswitch instead of pressing theRECORD (0) button, and in step 5, step on the footswitch againinstead of pressing the PLAY (t) button.TASCAM RC-3F footswitch(sold separately)NOTEStep on the switch (pedal) that you have set to PUNCH IN/OUTin the footswitch settings. When the recorder is stopped, press the MENU button toopen the MENU screen.2. Use the JOG/DATA dial or the CURSOR (5/b/g/t)buttons to select (highlight green) PREFERENCE, and thenpress the F4 (t) button.The PREFERENCE screen opens.3. Track bouncing allows you tocombine the signals of multiple tracks and use them to createnew mono or stereo recordings. In this way, you can virtuallyrecord more than 32 tracks. Note, however, that the originaltracks cannot be separated again, so save them if they areimportant to you.
