TASCAM DR-100MKIII 459 – Connecting with a ComputerBy connecting this unit with a computer using a commercial-ly-available USB cable, you can transfer audio files on the SDcard in the unit to a computer, as well as transfer audio files onthe computer to the SD card in the unit.This unit can handle audio files of the following formats.WAV (BWF): 44.1/48/88.2/96/176.4/192kHz, 16/24-bitMP3: 44.1/48kHz, 128/192/256/320kbpsNOTE• We recommend connecting this unit to a computer thatsupports USB 2.0 HIGH SPEED mass storage class.• Instead of using USB to connect the unit and a computer,you can also conduct the same operations by removingthe SD card from the unit and connecting it directly to acomputer that has a built-in SD card slot or by using a cardreader.• Both WAV and BWF files use the same ".wav" extension.1. Use a USB cable (A to Micro-B) to connect a computer to theunit's USB port.Micro-B USB plugComputerCAUTIONThe unit should be connected directly with the computerinstead of via a USB hub.2. Select the SYSTEM screen USB STORAGE item, and pressthe ENTER/MARK button to open a screen confirmingconnection with the computer. (See “Basic menu operationprocedures” on page 10.)3. Select YES to continue execution or select NO to cancel. Then,press the ENTER/MARK button.The unit enters USB storage mode and connects with thecomputerMake sure that the SD card is inserted in the unit properly.4. This unit appears on the computer as an external drivenamed “DR-100MKIII" (if the card was formatted by thisunit).NOTEPower is supplied from the USB port if the USB cable isconnected to the unit even if it contains batteries. (USB buspower is prioritized.)Transferring files to a computer1. Click the "DR-100MKIII" drive on the computer screen toshow the "MUSIC" and "UTILITY" folders.2. Open the "MUSIC" folder and drag and drop the files thatyou want to transfer to the computer to destinations of yourchoice.Transferring files from a computer1. Click the "DR-100MKIII" drive on the computer screen toshow the "MUSIC" and "UTILITY" folders.2. Copy the audio files on the computer that you want to the"MUSIC" folder.TIP• You can manage the "MUSIC" folder from the computer.• You can create subfolders in the "MUSIC" folder up to thesecond level for use with this unit. Subfolders can be madeto two levels. The unit cannot recognize subfolders andaudio files on the third level or below.• If you name the subfolders and music files, these names willappear on the screen of this unit.Disconnecting from a computerBefore disconnecting the USB cable, use the proper proceduresfor your computer to unmount the unit (as an external drive).See the computer’s operation manual for instructions abouthow to unmount an external volume.Press the ENTER/MARK button to disconnect from thecomputer and return to the Home Screen.
