TASCAM DR-100MKIII 4912 – TroubleshootingIf you are having trouble with the operation of this unit, pleasetry the following before seeking repair. If these measures do notsolve the problem, please contact the store where you boughtthe unit or TEAC customer support.8 The unit will not turn on.• Confirm that the built-in battery has enough charge or thatthe replaceable batteries are installed correctly.• Confirm that the TASCAM PS-P520E AC adapter (soldseparately) power plug and the USB connector are securelyconnected. The unit might not operate properly through aUSB hub.• Confirm that the HOLD switch is set to OFF.8 The unit turns off automatically.• Is the automatic power saving function on?(See “Setting theautomatic power saving function” on page 40.)o Since this unit complies with the European Standby PowerRegulations (ErP), the automatic power saving functionoperates regardless of whether the unit is being poweredby an AC adapter or batteries. If you do not want to usethe automatic power saving function, set it to "OFF". (Thefactory default setting is "30 min".)8 The CHG indicator alternately lights orange andgreen.• Proper charging might not be possible in a location thatis too hot or too cold. Charging is possible when thetemperature is between 0−30°C.8 The remaining charge of the built-in battery is notshown accurately• The remaining charge of the built-in battery might not beshown accurately when the unit is purchased. Dischargeand charge the battery completely once to enable theunit to relearn the remaining battery charge and show itaccurately.8 The unit does not function.• Confirm that the HOLD switch is set to OFF.• The unit will not function when in USB storage mode.• If operation becomes abnormal, press and hold the(power) button for at least 10 seconds while pressingthe STOP button. This will force the unit to turn off (startstandby mode).8 The SD card is not recognized.• Confirm that the SD card is inserted completely.8 No sound is output.• Confirm the unit's headphone/speaker output level.• Check the monitoring system connections and volumelevel.• No sound is output from the speaker in the followingconditions.o The (speaker) switch is set to OFFo The unit is recording or in recording standbyo Headphones are connected8 Recording is not possible.• Confirm that the the SD card has enough open space.• Recording becomes impossible when the total number offiles reaches 5000.8 The input sound is extremely quiet or loud.• Check input level settings.• Check the output levels of connected external equipment.8 The output sounds unnatural.• Check the playback speed (VSA playback function).• Confirm that the level control function is not on.8 I cannot erase a file.• A protected (read only) file cannot be erased.8 This unit’s files do not appear on the computer.• Confirm that the unit is properly connected to thecomputer using its USB port. The unit might not operateproperly if connected through a USB hub.• Confirm that the unit is in USB storage mode.8 I accidentally set the wrong language.• Press the (power) button to turn it off, and then pressthe (power) button again while pressing the MENUbutton.The language selection menu where you can set thelanguage appears.
