Wide Format Copy System User Guide 919 Scanning to the Network(SCAN mode)Scanning to the Network (SCAN mode)The Wide Format Copy System has two scanning modes of operation: COPY mode and SCANmode.NOTE: Color Scan-to-Net is an available option for all XEROX Wide Format Copy Systemsequipped with the Wide Format Scan System. The Color Scan-to-Net feature requires aseparately purchased, Color Enablement feature key.NOTE: The COPY mode will be disabled and the READY TO COPY screen will not beaccessible when the SCAN OPTION (COLOR) is enabled and a color printer isconnected to the Controller.• In COPY mode, documents are scanned and temporarily stored in memory or on thecontroller internal hard disk, and then sent to the local Printer as soon as the Printeris available. When the next job is scanned, the file from the previous job isautomatically deleted from the hard disk, making room for new files. Operation of thesystem works as described in the previous sections.• In SCAN mode, the choices include:Scan to Remote Destination: Scanned images can be transferred to up to 16remote FTP or printer destinations. Before an image is scanned, the FTP Destinationis selected on the Scan System’s Sample Mode screen. Scan to FTP images are notstored on the FreeFlow Accxes Controller’s hard drive. Scan to remote printer imagesare stored on the FreeFlow Accxes Controller’s hard drive. The FTP and RemotePrinter features are located on the Sample Mode screen. See the “Sample Key”section of this guide for more information. The destination choices that show on thescan system’s Sample Mode screen were defined on the Web Printer ManagementTool page located at Configuration > Scanner.NOTE: If the Image Overwrite feature is enabled, Scan to FTP is still available, but since theimages are deleted from the hard drive, Scan to Remote Printer is disabled while theImage Overwrite feature is in effect.If an internal error occurs while FTP transferring a scanned image to a remote file system, thescanned image will be deleted and the following error will be displayed.
