4TNV98 & 4TNE98 Diesel Engine Section 4. Fuel System189Removal Of Fuel Injection Pump1. Remove fuel supply line from the fuel injectionpump.2. Remove fuel injector return line.3. Remove fuel tank return line.4. Disconnect the electrical connection to themagnetic valve (stop solenoid) (Figure7-32, (1)).Figure 7-325. Disconnect the throttle linkage.6. Remove the high pressure fuel lines.• First loosen the high pressure fuel line nuts(Figure7-32, (2)) at the fuel injectors.CAUTIONWhen loosening or tightening the lines at thefuel injectors, you must hold the fuel injectorwith a second wrench to prevent the injectorfrom turning and damaging the fuel return linefitting.• Then loosen the high pressure fuel line nuts(Figure7-32, (3)) on the fuel injection pump.• Finish loosening all the high pressure fuel linenuts and remove the fuel lines as an assembly.Be careful not to bend any of the fuel lines.CAUTIONRemove the high-pressure fuel injection linesas an assembly whenever possible.Disassembling the high-pressure fuel injectionlines from the retainers or bending any of thefuel lines will make it difficult to reinstall thefuel lines.NOTE: It is necessary to remove the bolt (Figure7-33, (1)) holding the dipstick tube clamp. Rotate thedipstick tube to one side to allow you to remove thehigh pressure fuel line assembly.Figure 7-337. Remove the two bolts (Figure7-34, (1)) from theL-shaped brackets that holds the injection pumpat the bottom / rear.
