Bycentering of the remaining objectives, thespecimen feature remains in the center of the fieldof view even after changing the objective.• The KÖHLER illumination on the microscopemust be adjusted before centering the stage(see section 4.2.1).• For centering the stage, use a contrastingspecimen and an eyepiece with crossline reticle.• First, turn the nosepiece to swing the non-centering objective mount. Center the rotarystage for the non-centering objective mount asdescribed under 3.1.7.5.• Turn the nosepiece to move a centering objective mount into the beam path.• Rotate the stage to determine the position of maximum offset of the specimen feature (Fig. 3-12/3,origin of the arrow) from the center of the eyepiece reticle.• Reset the two centering screws on the stage carrier (Fig. 3-12/2) using one AF 1.5 Allen wrench(Fig. 3-12/1) each to move the specimen detail by half the arrow length in the direction of thecrossline center. Check whether the specimen detail moves when the stage is rotated again; repeatthe procedure if required.• Center the other three objectives in the same manner.NOTETo maintain this centering accuracy, when replacing an objective, do not hold the objectiveitself; hold the knurled ring of the nosepiece to rotate it.Fig. 3-12 Centering objectives
