Changing the Configuration 4-9Memory Test Bypass This parameter configures the server to perform the complete set or ashortened version of self-tests and diagnostics (omitting memory tests) atpower-on or reset. The shortened version reduces the duration of thestartup process (self-tests, diagnostics, and boot) to about 2 minutes if theboot source is a network or about 4 minutes if the boot source is a diskette.Although setting the Memory Test Bypass parameter to “Enable” reduces theserver’s startup time, 3Com recommends maintaining the default setting of“Disable” to detect memory failures.Table 4-3 IP Addressing ParametersIP Option MeaningClient IP address The IP address of the communications server. This parameter isrequired if Local Information is specified for address discoveryprotocol; otherwise, this address is obtained by BOOTP or RARP.Server IP address The IP address of the RBCS or TFTP/FTP server thecommunications server boots from. BOOTP requests are sent tothis address. If this address is not specified, BOOTP requests aresent to the broadcast address.Gateway IP address If the communications server boots from an RBCS or TFTP/FTPserver on another network, enter the IP address of the gateway.If booting across a gateway, you must specify both client andserver IP address parameters.Subnet mask value The subnet mask value, if subnet masking is being used. If thisparameter is not entered, its value is obtained from BOOTP.FAP server address If booting from a TFTP server, enter the IP address of the RBCSor FTP server that stores configuration files for thecommunications server software.IP security option Determines the classification protection level as specified inRFC 1038:1 - don’t care (default)2 - Unclassified3 - Confidential4 - Secret5 - Top Secret6 - OtherTFTP upload path The pathname to which to upload a memory image from thecommunications server to the RBCS or TFTP/FTP server.
