• SYNCH signal on the MUx function block indicates that protection functionsare blocked due to loss of internal time synchronization to the IED. SinceSyncLostMode is set to No block, this signal is not set.• MUSYNCH signal on the MUx function block is set if the datastreamindicates time synchronization loss. However, protection functions are notblocked. To get higher availability in protection functions, it is possible to avoid blockingduring time synchronization loss if there is a single source of analog data. Thismeans that if there is only one physical MU and no TRM, parameter SyncLostModeis set to No block but parameter HwSyncSrc is still set to PPS. This maintainsanalog and binary data correlation in disturbance recordings without blockingprotection functions if PPS is lost.18.3.3 IEC 61850 quality expander QUALEXP GUID-9C5DC78E-041B-422B-9668-320E62B847A2 v1The quality expander component is used to display the detailed quality of anIEC/UCA 61850-9-2LE analog channel. The component expands the channelquality output of a Merging Unit analog channel received in the IED as per the IEC61850-7-3 standard. This component can be used during the ACT monitoring to getthe particular channel quality of the Merging Unit.Figure 159 depicts the usage of the quality expander block in ACT.IEC16000073-1-en.vsdxIEC16000073 V1 EN-USFigure 159: Quality expander block in ACTThe expanded quality bits are visible on the outputs as per IEC 61850-7-3 standard. When written to IED, the configuration will show the expanded form of therespective MU channel quality information during the online monitoring in theACT.The quality expander function is intended for monitoring purposes, not for being used in a logic controlling the behaviour of theprotection or control functions in the IED. The function outputs areupdated once every second and, therefore, do not reflect the qualitybits in real time.Section 18 1MRK 505 393-UEN BStation communication378 Line differential protection RED650 2.2 IECApplication manual
