9.4.2 FunctionalityWhen the laminated core of a power transformer or generator is subjected to amagnetic flux density beyond its design limits, stray flux will flow into non-laminatedcomponents not designed to carry flux and cause eddy currents to flow. The eddycurrents can cause excessive heating and severe damage to insulation and adjacentparts in a relatively short time. The function has settable inverse operating curves andindependent alarm stages.9.4.3 Function blockANSI09000008-1-en.vsdOEXPVPH (24)V3P*BLOCKRESETTRIPBFIALARMANSI09000008 V1 ENFigure 125: OEXPVPH (24) function block9.4.4 SignalsTable 155:OEXPVPH (24) Input signalsName Type Default DescriptionV3P GROUPSIGNAL- Three phase group signal for voltagesBLOCK BOOLEAN 0 Block of functionRESET BOOLEAN 0 Reset of functionTable 156:OEXPVPH (24) Output signalsName Type DescriptionTRIP BOOLEAN Common trip signalBFI BOOLEAN General pickup signalALARM BOOLEAN Overexcitation alarm signalSection 9 1MRK 502 043-UUS BVoltage protection272Technical Manual
